Travel Teams Report and general discussion

Player/Coach Development Program

The last session will occur tomorrow evening.  The U14 division will attend that session.  I have received a summary report from the Mass Coaches.  The highlights are as follows.

What we did well:

·         Coaches at each session were open to asking for assistance

·         Coaches did a great job in keeping players active within the activity

·         Coaches were very positive and encouraging towards their players

Opportunities for improvement:

·         Coaches need to be on time and attend the coaching demonstration prior to practice

·         Coaches must assign homework to their players

·         Coaches should keep instructions short and simple

·         Coaches need an increased awareness of how to adjust an activity

Pass Cards

Pass cards are required for the spring season.  These are checked by the referees before the beginning of each game.

All coaches (assistants and head coaches) for the U10, U12, and U14 age groups need to have a pass cared.  It must have a picture (may use a photocopy of the picture on your driver’s license) and it needs to be signed.

Only U12 and U14 players need pass cards.  If a player does not have a pass card they cannot play.   Players do not need to sign their cards.

The picture should be attached to the side indicated and be approximately one inch by one inch.  It should not cover the lines reserved for the member’s signature or registrar signature/stamp.  Crowley Photo was going to include a “postage stamp” size picture in your picture packet but it did not work out.  They are going to FedEx me wallet size picture which can be used for the pass card.  After I receive them, I will send an e-mail with pick up instructions.  The deadline for getting the pass cards to the league is November 15th; I would like to receive the pass cards back by Wednesday, November 11th.

Player Report Cards for intramural players

After the season ends, I would like to send the player’s report card to the intramural coaches.  The player’s report card is a tool that we use during team picking in conjunction with the tryout scores.  Intramural coaches please take the time to provide the information on the report card; it will be very helpful if the players you coached try out for travel for the 2010-2011 season.  Thank you.

Middlesex League Report:
