Programs Overview

Wakefield Soccer offers a variety of programs for every season.  Below are short descriptions to help you quickly determine the programs that your child(ren) may be interested and eligible for.    To obtain more details about each program, just click on the program name.

Intramural  (Grades Pre-K  and Kindergarten)

This recreational program is for our youngest players just starting to learn soccer.  Weekly one hour sessions focus on having fun but emphasize skill development through our weekly curriculum.

Academy  (Grades 1 and 2)

This recreational program will develop the players’ technical skills and prepare them for taking the next step in their soccer careers. Professional coaches run the week-day one-hour practice sessions.  Small-sided games are held on a weekend day.

Intramural  (Grades 3-4)

This recreational program is for kids that just want to play soccer on a once-a-week basis without having the commitment of a two-season (travel) schedule with scheduled practices and game days. Kids will have a 30-minute practice followed by a one-hour game.  At this level, boys and girls will be combined on teams that are made up randomly with the kids in attendance.

Intramural  (Grades 5-8)

This recreational program is for kids that just want to play soccer on a once-a-week basis without having the commitment of a two-season (travel) schedule with scheduled practices and game days. Kids will have a 30-minute practice followed by a one-hour game.  At this level, boys and girls are separated and play at different times on teams that are made up randomly with the kids in attendance.

Travel

The Travel program is for kids that want to participate in a more competitive, multi-town league.  Players need to commit to a two season schedule with twice-a-week practices followed by games on Saturdays, half of which are in Wakefield and the other half in surrounding towns. Kids must attend tryouts to be eligible for placement on a team.

Wakefield United

The Wakefield United program is our newest program that provides our players the opportunity to participate in a premiere club program, in addition to the Travel program. Teams are run by professional coaches who hold additional practices. Games are currently played on Sundays. Kids must attend tryouts to be eligible for placement on a team.
