Winter Soccer 2019

Wakefield Soccer Association will be offering students in Grade K – Grade 12 the opportunity to hone their soccer skills over the winter with the Director of Coaching, Mackenzie Arment. Sessions will run on Sundays, January 6 through March 24, 2018  (11 weeks) at the Galvin Middle School. (No sessions will be held Sunday January 20)

These sessions are designed for players that want to continue to grow in their technical development through the Winter months so they can be even more influential on their team in the Spring.

Grade K  (NEW!)  – 3:30 – 4:30 pm

The 11-week winter training sessions will focus on developing core soccer fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, shooting and coordination through the use of fun, creative games.

Grade 1 and Grade 2 – 3:30 – 4:30 pm 

The 11-week winter training sessions will focus on an individual’s core ball control skills along with improving the player’s technical skills such as passing, dribbling and running with the ball.

Note: Grade 1 and 2 players that are NOT currently registered in the Wakefield Soccer Academy program might be able to participate only if discussed with our Director of Coaching at [email protected] ahead of time.

Grades 3 and Grade 4 – 4:30 – 5:30 pm

This clinic (Grades 3 and 4 only) focuses on an individual’s technical development as a u-10 player which includes technical skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, first touch, and SAQ training (speed, agility, quickness)

Grade 5 and Grade 6 – 5:30 – 6:30 pm

This clinic (Grades 5 and 6 only) focuses on an individual’s technique as a u-12 player which includes technical skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, first touch, settling the ball out of the air and SAQ training (speed, agility, quickness)

Grade 7 through Grade 9 – 6:30 – 7:30 pm

This clinic (Grades 7-9 only) focuses on an individual’s technique as a u-14 as it applies to the 11v11 game.  In this clinic, SAQ(speed, agility, quickness) and technical development will be used to develop a player’s passing/dribbling/shooting technique, speed of play, and fitness.

Grade 10 through Grade 12 –  6:30 – 7:30 pm

This clinic (Grades 10-12 only) focuses on an individual’s technique as a u-14 as it applies to the 11v11 game.  In this clinic, SAQ(speed, agility, quickness) and technical development will be used to develop a player’s passing/dribbling/shooting technique, speed of play, and fitness.  

Goalkeeper Program – TBD based on interest 

The goalkeeper program will focus on many technical areas of goalkeeping including Handling, Shot Stopping, Distribution and Body Position. The winter program is aimed at players who are interested in training as a goalkeeper and who have expressed interest in playing the position on a regular basis.  The program is open to Grade 3 – Grade 8 players.  Interested Grade 1 and Grade 2 players must discuss participation with Mackenzie Arment before registering.

Training sessions will be held on Sundays at the Galvin Middle School gym at the following times:
