The Spring season runs April – June and is the competitive season where team standings determine which teams participate in the Commissioner’ Cup or Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC). In addition to the Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 age groups, spring season provides Grade 9/10 and 11/12 players the opportunity to play as well.
3rd-8th Grades (U10-U14)
The Spring season is a continuation of the Fall season, with the same teams/coaches and no additional tryouts, although all returning players will need to register. Only players who were assigned to a travel team in the fall can register this spring. However, openings may become available and new players should contact our Travel Director to inquire about open positions.
IMPORTANT: If you know that you will not be returning to your team in the Spring, please contact the Travel Director ASAP at [email protected].
9th-12th Grades (U16-U18)
Many players in this age group participate in Wakefield High School or other soccer programs/other sports in the Fall. WSA offers kids the opportunity to play Spring soccer with their Wakefield friends and teammates. WSA will roster both boys and girls teams at the U16 and U18 age groups in the Middlesex Youth Soccer League.
To keep costs down, WSA will NOT be hiring professional coaches this Spring.
- All High School students, grades 9-12, are eligible to play Spring soccer. This includes seniors who have already finished their last season with their high school in the Fall of 2017.
- Each team will be coached by a qualified parent-volunteer soccer coach chosen by the WSA Board.
- There will be one training session and one local game (in Middlesex League) each week.
- The season runs approximately 7 weeks, longer if a team qualifies for the postseason.
