Travel (Grades 3-12)

Program Overview

The WSA Travel Program is a competitive soccer program for players 8 – 18 years of age (i.e. Grade 3 – Grade 12). Teams participate in the Middlesex Youth Soccer League.

  • For Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 age groups, the program is a TWO season program with 9-10 games per season.
  • For Grade 9/10 and 11/12 age groups, the program runs ONLY in the spring.

Fall Season: Runs September – November for the Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 age groups only. Fall is considered to be a developmental season.

Spring Season: Runs April – June and is the competitive season where team standings determine which teams participate in the Commissioner’ Cup or Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC). In addition to the Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 age groups, spring season provides Grade 9/10 and 11/12 players the opportunity to play as well.

Team Formation:

The travel program has separate boys and girls leagues and teams. Players are placed into age groups (e.g Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8) based on their grade and age. For details on the age group determination process, go to the Registration > Grade Based Groupings page.

Players must attend tryouts to be eligible for placement on a travel team. Tryouts and team assignments occur in May/June for the following fall and spring seasons.

New this coming season (Fall 2017) uniforms will be purchased by individual families and delivered to their homes. The cost of uniforms has been removed from the registration fees. Please see this page for details.

Travel teams practice twice a week for 60 – 90 minutes per session. Practices are usually held between the hours of 5:00 & 9:00 PM depending on field and coach availability and schedules.

Regularly scheduled travel games for the Grade 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 age groups are on Saturdays. Games for Grade 9/10 and 11/12 are on Sundays. Makeup games may be scheduled for any day of the week and are arranged by the coaches.
