Coaching Prerequisites


We greatly appreciate your willingness and time to coach for Wakefield Soccer.  We could not provide so many players with a fun and engaging soccer experience without your involvement.  Thank YOU!!!

To participate in any WSA soccer activity, adults (coaches, administrators, referees, volunteers, etc) must go through a registration and training process every year to comply with Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (“MYSA”) , state, and federal regulations. 

GREAT NEWS Starting 2023-2024
Volunteer coaches who coach both fall and spring seasons will receive a $60 refund at the end of the spring season !!!
Only one $60 refund per coach per soccer year.
If two parents are coaching the same team, only one $60 refund.
If two parents are coaching two different teams, two $60 refunds are earned.
Note:  coach must have completed all of their coaching prerequisites before the start of the season to qualify.


Step 1:  Volunteer to Coach in the WSA Sports Connect registration system
                  This must be done EVERY SEASON and for EACH DIVISION you would like to coach.

Step 2:  Register with MYSA annually
                 
This must be done (only)  ONCE every soccer year (each soccer year runs Sept 1 - Aug 31).

Step 3:  Complete training courses for Concussion and Safesport
                  
If this is your first time going through the training, learn more HERE (Step 2)

                  Otherwise,  log into your Sports Connect account, click on the Volunteer tab and complete the training  as  needed. 
                   - any item with an ! needs to be completed.   A check mark means it's done.
                   - Returning coaches, may receive reminder emails from Mass Youth Soccer and/or U.S.  Soccer Learning Center that also contain links to the trainings.        

Step 4:  Pick up your credentials during these Pick-Up Dates/Times

Step 5:   Set up the Mojo app.  Download it to your phone .  Check out this Getting Started With Mojo Video if you are unfamiliar with the app.  For questions/issues, contact [email protected]

  • New coaches - Attend ECYSA NEW Coaches Meeting: March 27 and 28, 7:00    Zoom Link
  • Make sure that your own photo is in the Essex/MYL system  
    • Need some help in logging  in to MYL?  See HERE or email  [email protected]
    • If you'd like to print out your own coaching card, it must be in COLOR (required).
    • If you cannot print it, you can get it up when picking up other items. 
  • Print out your game cards and some blanks ones to have on hand.   
    • Print them from the MYL system.  Print a couple for each game (just in case).
  •  Is your photo roster complete? 
    • A new roster is needed for each season. Coaches can not print out photo rosters.  Only Wakefield admins can. 
    • To view your current roster, log into  Essex/MYL system, click on the Coaches menu, then click on the team name
  •   Sign up and Pick up photo roster during these Pickup Dates/Times
